One of the most famous designs in Kurdish carpets is the Kurdish Garden Carpet, which depicts a traditional Persian garden from an aerial perspective. The arrangement of water channels, the topography, and the density and foliage of the trees create remarkable harmony and beauty. While a central medallion can be seen in some Kurdish handwoven carpets, all-over (Afshan) designs—including the Mina Khani pattern and various geometric motifs—are far more common.

Kurdish weavers typically use the symmetric Kurdish knot on a wool warp, as seen in carpets such as the Bijar rug. The background is often in brick-red or orange tones, adorned with motifs in blue, green, and ochre, giving vibrancy and depth to the traditional Kurdish patterns.
